This round untreated chrysoprase cabochon has a silky, translucent green color and its durability makes it ideal for setting in bezel mountings in nearly any style of jewelry. The most valuable form of chalcedony and prized for its color, chrysoprase is often mistaken for jade due to its vivid-to-soft green color, which comes from nickel silicate within the stone. Chrysoprase can come in colors that range from pale mint-green to jade-like green, or even an apple-green shade. The stone is composed of crystals of such fineness that they are not discernible as separate particles under normal magnification.
